As part of the Chapter’s ongoing commitment to excellence in interior design, the IIDA Great Plains Chapter invites all IIDA Members in good standing to submit their exceptional projects to the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) competition each year.
IIDA Great Plains hosts the IDEA Ceremony each Spring to announce the winners, promote interior design, and celebrate the incredible talent across the Chapter.
There are no categories; all projects are judged on the same criteria. Good Design is Good Design, no matter the scale, no matter the sector. IDEA celebrates you and the design profession.
In 2021, the IIDA Great Plains Chapter hosted the annual IDEA ceremony virtually due to the global pandemic. The event concept and branding drew inspiration from one of the experiences missed most by viewers: Travel.
The hour-long program was hosted by IIDA Mid-America member, Kim Antisdel with some help from flight stewardesses, Jenna Ketchen (IDEA 2021 Committee Chair) and Kelsey Pierce (Omaha City Center VP).

is presented to a member who has exhibited qualities in leadership, mentorship, and advocates for the interior design profession.
is presented to a member deserving of recognition for career excellence and achievement, exceptional leadership, and extraordinary impact on the interior design industry and Great Plains Chapter.

is presented to the project that wins the popular vote via social media and website traffic.

The judging process is changing. In lieu of a point system, there will be three rounds of judging through Judgify.
Judging Round 1 Judges will vote “Go” or “No Go” to each project based on the board submission only.
Judging Round 2 Judges will narrow down projects to the top 40% based on the board submission and narratives.
Judging Round 3 Judges will meet virtually to discuss the finalists and select the Project Award winners, Best Moment winner, and Honorable Mention recipients.
The IDEA 2022 submission window begins in February and ends in March. You can register and submit projects any time during this window.
Registering and submitting will be done on IIDA GPC’s new platform, Judgify. Once registered in Judgify, you will receive a confirmation email that contains a link to download the board template and access to the Submission Criteria and FAQs. Submissions are complete once submitted and paid through Judgify.
